About the role

The DME Clinical Lead - Sleep is responsible for the day-to-day clinical leadership, coaching, and performance of team members supporting patients throughout the PAP therapy journey. This role oversees two primary clinical functions: PAP Education & Initiation and Sleep Coaching & Post-Setup Support

This role ensures patients receive a consistent, high-quality experience from initial PAP setup through ongoing therapy support. The DME Clinical Lead is responsible for team development, clinical standards, performance oversight, workflow improvement, and serving as a subject matter expert in PAP therapy. The role must also maintain competency in both functions and provide coverage for either function as needed based on staffing, volume, or operational priorities.

This is a working leadership role requiring strong PAP expertise, sound clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coach employees toward both clinical excellence and operational performance.

What you'll do

Team Leadership & People Development

• Provide day-to-day leadership for employees supporting PAP setup and post-setup care.
• Set clear expectations for clinical quality, productivity, documentation, communication, and accountability.
• Conduct regular coaching, observation, and performance conversations.
• Support onboarding, training, and competency development for new and existing team members.
• Promote collaboration, ownership, and consistency across both PAP functions.
• Build a culture in which employees proactively identify problems, escalate concerns appropriately, and take ownership of the patient experience.
• Maintain the skills and knowledge necessary to fill in for either PAP Education & Initiation or Sleep Coaching/Post-Setup Support.

• Serve as a PAP therapy subject matter expert for the DME team and providers.
• Maintain strong knowledge of PAP devices, masks, accessories, therapy data, common treatment barriers, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ensure clinical workflows align with organizational policies, manufacturer guidelines, payer requirements, and applicable clinical standards.
• Maintain and reinforce clinical standards, workflows, protocols, and competencies.
• Review patient interactions, documentation, and team performance to identify coaching and process improvement opportunities
• Conduct routine quality reviews of patient interactions, documentation, and clinical decision-making, reporting concerns up to DME leadership.
• Develop and maintain clinical reference materials, workflows, scripts, educational resources, and standard operating procedures related to PAP therapy.
• Escalate significant clinical, safety, compliance, or patient experience concerns appropriately.

• Model and reinforce a patient experience that is supportive, individualized, and confidence-building.
• Assist with escalated PAP therapy concerns.
• Identify recurring patient experience issues and partner with leadership to address root causes.

• Identify opportunities to improve PAP workflows, clinical quality, efficiency, and patient outcomes.
• Partner with DME operations, clinical teams, providers, customer support, billing, and other teams as needed.
• Support development and implementation of new PAP programs, workflows, training materials, and clinical initiatives.
• Escalate recurring operational, clinical, or product-related barriers to appropriate leadership

Qualifications

• Active clinical license or credential appropriate to organizational and regulatory requirements (RT, LPN, RPSGT).
• Strong knowledge of PAP therapy, sleep apnea treatment, PAP equipment, mask fitting, and common treatment barriers.
• Experience educating and supporting patients during and after PAP initiation.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, train, and provide constructive feedback.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
• Ability to oversee multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or training experience.
• Experience developing clinical workflows, training materials, or standard operating procedures.
• Familiarity with several PAP therapy brands’ devices, masks, and supplies
