Automation Engineer (gn) Industrial Robotics & Software Development

Your mission

At Wandelbots, we combine modern software development with industrial robotics and automation. With NOVA, we are building a platform that makes the use of industrial robots easier, more flexible, and more software-driven. As an Automation Engineer, you will work right at this intersection: You will commission automation systems and robots, support our teams with your hands-on industrial expertise, and implement customer-specific solutions based on NOVA. You will support projects from technical concept and implementation through to commissioning at the customer site, while bringing insights from real-world automation projects back into our product and engineering teams.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Industrial Robotics & Automation 
You will be responsible for the setup, commissioning, and operation of internal and customer automation systems. Your responsibilities will include:

• Configuring, parameterizing, and commissioning industrial robots from different manufacturers on our shop floor and at customer sites 
• Integrating robots, PLCs, and other peripheral devices into an automation environment 
• Supporting electrical commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and on-site customer deployments 
• Acting as a technical point of contact for robotics and industrial automation across our teams 
• Bringing practical experience from customer projects into technical and product related decisions 

NOVA & Software Development 
You will use Wandelbots NOVA to implement customer-specific robotics and automation solutions and bring an important application perspective into our product development. Your responsibilities will include:

• Translating customer robotics requirements into NOVA-based software solutions 
• Developing project-specific applications, workflows, and functionality using Python 
• Combining and applying existing NOVA capabilities to real industrial use cases 
• Working closely with Software, Product, and Robotics Engineering on new use cases and technical challenges
• Providing structured feedback from real-world projects and turning project learnings into reusable solutions and best practices

Your profile

You have hands-on experience in industrial robotics and automation and enjoy working at the intersection of automation and software. Ideally, you bring: 

• Strong knowledge of industrial robot programming, parameterization, and commissioning 
• Practical experience with at least one major robot manufacturer such as KUKA, ABB, Yaskawa, FANUC, or Stäubli 
• Experience with industrial automation systems and customer-site commissioning
• Basic knowledge of PLC programming and electrical commissioning 
• Good knowledge of Python 
• A basic understanding of software architecture and modern development practices 
• Ideally, a qualification as a certified electrical specialist / qualified electrician or a comparable qualification
• A hands-on, solution-oriented mindset and openness to modern development and AI assisted tools 

What else is important

• German language skills at B2 level or above 
• English language skills at B2 level or above 
• Willingness to regularly work on-site at customer locations and support commissioning activities 
• Enjoyment of working across different teams, including Software Development, Robotics, Product, and Customer Projects
